Sodium formate is one of the simplest organic carboxylate, white crystal or powder, slightly formic acid odor. Slightly deliquable and hygroscopic. Soluble in water and glycerin, slightly soluble in ethanol, insoluble in ether. Its aqueous solution is alkaline. Sodium formate is harmless to the human body and can irritate the eyes, respiratory system and skin.
Application
- Mainly used in the production of formic acid, oxalic acid and insurance powder, etc., and also used in the production of dimethylformamide.
- Also used in medicine, printing and dyeing industry as reducing agent and stabilizer, also heavy metal precipitating agent.
- Used as reagents, disinfectants and mordants for the determination of phosphorus and arsenic;
